I realize it's not winter for another day or so, but I really would like to get on with some enjoying. I have been so busy with shows, custom work, and all the many goings-on of this time of year. But I am so, so ready for a break. I realized a few days ago that I have not had time for any new creative work in weeks. Maybe even a couple of months. I have so many projects waiting for finishing, and I have so many ideas waiting for execution, and so many books to read and skills to learn and and and ...
And before that I need to decompress. Chill. Unwind. Not-work.
It is good to see the last few custom jobs getting finished, packed, and shipped. I am sure it's not anything like sending your kids off to the bus on their first day of school, but .... uh. Well. I mean, most parents probably expect their kids to come back. When I send work out, if it comes back, I've done it wrong.
Let's move on.
Because the universe demands balance, the amount of money I've made recently is almost precisely the amount needed to correct this:
I am a little disappointed about that, but to be perfectly clear, this is not a cry for help. Choosing between luxury appliances is pretty deep into First World Problems territory, and as problems to have, I'd rather embrace this one than go looking for some other.
Anyhoodle, that's studio life in a nutshell these days. Several of the custom orders have been surprise gifts for people who might see them coming if I posted pictures, so I have been avoiding photos of all that stuff. And, let's be honest - if I made a photo of what's on the bench now, you too could be watching sealant dry. So ... you can thank me later for not making you see that.
