After a lot of requests, I am in fact making some covers for my knives. Most would qualify as a sort of Scandinavian style sheath, with wooden panels protecting the blade and a thick leather cover wrapping that and holding the knife in place. Pictures to follow, of course, but I just wanted to put it out there that I am making that happen.
The weather has been brutal here, even by our warped high desert standards. Many times in the last week, I have gone to use something (a finish, an adhesive, etc) and had the thought, "So ... that is what happens when this substance gets above 100F..." Today is overcast and cooler, which makes me so freakin' happy. Unfortunately, I can't just blow off the workshop and go loiter outdoors. But I would like to. Definitely.
Tomorrow, I will be at Rail Yards Market as usual, but I'll be off the following weekend due to some travel. (From the frying pan to the fire, so to speak, Albuquerque to Jacksonville.) And then when I get back, the tax rate will have gone up. Good times!
If you are interested in a studio visit, please let me know, and I will figure out a good time for you to come see where the magic happens. And also a lot of dust, and sweat, and (I admit) profanity sometimes.
